Overview
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a full remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved (2001), rebuilding the legendary campaign that launched the franchise in modern Unreal Engine. It reimagines Master Chief's first fight against the Covenant and the Flood with contemporary visuals, effects, and fidelity while staying true to the classic experience.
My Role — Senior VFX Artist
I created real-time visual effects across the campaign, spanning three major areas:
Weapons & Vehicles — Effects for the core sandbox including the Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, Sniper, Magnum, Stanchion, and Warthog Turret, plus the Frag Grenade and Scorpion Cannon with full material-interaction sets across surfaces like sand, water, metal, coolant, snow, and ice. Vehicle work covered Warthog traversal and Scorpion and Shade Turret destruction.
Cinematic Vignettes — Owned scripted story moments including the opening space battle in The Pillar of Autumn, the Foehammer death and Warthog-run sequences in The Maw, the Falling Flood reveal, campaign-wide hacking events, and finale set pieces like the slipspace entrance and Tolerance shield dissolve.
Environments — Gravity lifts and bridges, damage volumes, fire placement, and world interactions across multiple missions.
